We had the unusual opportunity to see Chief and a competitor working side-by-side, on nearly identical roofs, on the same day. We chose the winner (Chief); our neighbor had chosen another roofer. Chief Roofing put a new roof on our house about 8 months ago. They did a very nice job and it was obvious they take pride in their work. Unfortunately, a huge tree fell through our house and did severe damage. We had a huge gaping hole in the roof, beams inside the house and branches poking through the shattered skylight in the kitchen. Huge mess and very exposed to the elements. As soon as I called them they came and boarded up the smaller holes in the roof that we wouldn't have even known were there until insurance people came and helped tarp us in better. The next day they came with a replacement skylight glass that they located by convincing a glass warehouse to search for even though they didn't have power back yet. The insurance company's roofing guy had to do an inspection of damaged roof and commented on the quality of work and materials used on our roof. The first point of contact, Billy the sales rep, has decades of experience in the roofing/construction business and was able to share lots of info to help us make decisions. The best part was he was easy going and not pushy. He took his time and was great with our follow-up questions as it took us about 2 weeks to make a decision.The lead person coordinating the work was also good with updates and info. They actually were able to start work earlier than expected. The crews working on replacing the shingles were nice and efficient. They got everything done in one day, including some repairs to a couple of unexpected problems with our roof. They sent before and after pictures, which was great.The team putting the new gutters on was also excellent. They addressed some issues we were having with the old smaller 4-inch gutters overflowing. Billy made suggestions on how to fix this as the overflow was running down the siding and could cause wood rot behind the siding. Going with the bigger 6-inch gutters and downspouts was a big help, especially with the heavy rains we get now. This also moves the water further away from the home’s foundation.We wanted to deal with a local roofer instead of these crews that knock on your door, give a cheaper price, then you’ll never be able to find them if there’s a problem. Paying a little bit more to get quality materials, warranties, and good service from a local company is a good long term investment. Lots of our neighbors also used Chief and all have had good experiences.
